A recent survey sponsored by ABB, which is a power and automation technology company, has shed some light on the need to increase energy efficiency. The survey results show that we need to do much more to become energy efficient and many experts think that the government should provide incentives to meet these goals.

Below is a summary of what the Businessweek Research Services (BBWRS) 2010 Energy  Survey has found:

–          78 percent of energy experts surveyed expect energy efficiency to account for over half of the total CO2 reduction potential by 2030.

–          63 percent of energy experts believe that greatest way to be energy efficient is to make the industrial end users efficient. Currently 50% of the world’s energy is used by industrial users.

–          81 percent of energy experts say that smart grid technology is very important to the future of electricity supply and consumption.

–          76 percent of energy professionals think that government regulations should require utility companies to produce more energy from renewable sources.
